Last updated Draft

This is a draft. It describes how Akaunty intends to handle your data and will be replaced by the reviewed policy before launch.

The short version

Your books are yours.
We keep them so you can use them, nothing more.
We don’t sell data.
Not your account details, not your records.
Analytics stay out of your numbers.
No amounts, names or contact details, ever.
Every organization is sealed off.
Isolated at the database level, not just hidden in the app.

What we collect

Only what it takes to run your books. Here is each kind of data, why we keep it and who can see it.

How we use it

To run the service, keep your books, secure your account and improve the product. When we look at how Akaunty is used, we look at events and pages, never at the contents of your records. Our analytics don’t use cookies; the cookie policy lists the few cookies and browser storage Akaunty does use.

What we never do

  • Sell your data, or share it for advertising.
  • Send amounts, names, contact details or other financial content to analytics.
  • Let one organization see another organization’s records.

Who can see your books

Only the people you invite to an organization. Each member has a role: owner, admin, accountant, member or viewer. Roles decide who can see and change what. If you belong to several organizations, each one keeps its own members and roles.

How we protect it

  • Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Each organization’s data is isolated at the database level, so a request for one organization can’t read another’s.
  • You can turn on two-factor authentication for your account.
  • Posted entries can’t be silently edited or deleted, and changes are kept in an audit trail.

Your choices

You can update your account details or delete your account at any time.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
